Adam Goldstein was found dead in his New York apartment last Friday, but medical officials are still uncertain as to the cause.
Better known by his Hollywood club scene alter ego DJ AM, Goldstein managed to survive a harrowing plane crash alongside Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker in 2008, yet seemingly wasted his miraculous survival on an apparent drug addiction.
According to the Associated Press, law enforcement discovered a crack pipe and prescription drugs inside his home.
Goldstein also openly admitted to using crack cocaine and Ecstasy in the past and even helped produce an unaired drug intervention reality show for MTV.
Medical examiners have yet to rule out suicide, which rumor mills are citing as the likeliest scenario.
The troubled 36-year-old entertainer even hinted at the difficulties he faced when coping with his near-death experience.
“I guess I get why they call it ‘post-trauma,’ because it was very tough,” he told the Associated Press. “I have really bad days, and I have really okay days.”
