Years of Refusal by Morrissey by Rockcom

Sure he’s arrogant, condescending, and pompous, but say what you will of Morrissey, the man can flat out sing.

His tender falsetto returns to wreck havoc on the lovelorn hearts of his brooding fan base, making latest album Years of Refusal a reasonable substitute for Haagen-Dazs and midnight viewings of Roman Holiday.

Case in point, a rejected Morrissey consoles his battered ego in “That’s How People Grow Up” and discovers the inevitability of disappointment, “I was wasting my time/Praying for love/For a love that never comes/From someone who does not exist.”

The genteel crooner regains his confidence in “I’m Throwing My Arms Around Paris” and attempts to seduce an entire city, and likely prevails.
